Duke Ellington song!!!

I can't believe it; I had seen this movie maybe a year ago and didn't pay any attention to the introductory and end credit song, but I just watched it an hour ago and realized: THAT'S DUKE ELLINGTON!!

See, the concert band I am in at school played Duke Ellington, a collection of some of his famous songs in one song, and "Sophisticated Lady" was in it. Wow!! The tune was jazzed up a bit to what we play, but I could still hear the tune I know, and it was actually Duke Ellington playing the credits song.

WOW!! What a surprise! Small world!! Makes me proud to play it.

YES I AM INSANE

Well, the guy did write over 2,000 songs....so don't be surprised when you hear a movie score and hear some of the Duke; He's everywhere.

For many years Woody Allen has played clarinet and performed with a band in new York City that plays music from the 1940's. He's always loved Ellington, Bix Biederbecke and the music of that period.
