I almost died laughing from ep 3

That's the thing about CYB, I think - when you first start watching, some of the jokes might seem not particularly funny or like nothing special is going on, but then it all builds up into this little masterpiece of comedy that's hard not to acknowledge or discern.

reply

Agreed. I was worried about this show until ep 3.

reply

Sometimes .... it did, used to, might still again at some point.
I did think episode 4 was kind of cute in moments, but more
and more Larry seems to be depending on cliche dumb things
like henpecked husband, castrating wife. There are still some
humorous bits here so I've been watching since I have HBO,
but this is not as funny or as smooth as I remember other
seasons being. In the last episode Jeff did not seem to know
where he was or what he was doing and his reading the lines
came off really fake. Like when they were at Richard Lewis'
art show and Larry said "maybe you could paint me with hair"
and Jeff's laugh was blood curdlingly stupid.

Then the line "when they (transgender) get the penis, do they
throw in the balls?" Just dumb hammy humor about 75%.

reply

Yeah, Jeff's laughter in that scene was just jarring, I don't understand how they let it remain in the episode! Did no one think the audience would notice??

I didn't care for ep 4 at all, huge step down from ep 3 IMO.

Although in fairness, I am watching CYE from the beginning now (I am in the middle of season 3), since I know I didn't watch all the seasons back when the show was on originally, and while some of the episodes are absolutely hilarious, they are usually hit and miss as well. Some of the old eps are frankly a waste of time.

reply

There are some comedies that start out good and
after a while the star just starts to grate on my nerves.

For example, "The Last Man On Earth" I thought was
funny when it started, but over the episodes "Tandy"
just become more than I can take. It's awful.

reply

Yeah, I gave up on The Last Man on Earth during the first season, the guy was just so stupid and illogical, it was too frustrating to watch.

I am honestly surprised the show is still on the air - I guess other people aren't as bothered by that (and are obviously more entertained) than I was.

reply

Is that the episode with the Judge? I laughed so hard when he said "Take your unsucked candy and go back to your desk." The entire episode was just gold.

reply

It was the episode with Elizabeth Banks.

reply

I lost it when they talked about the garbage woman in the last episode .
