I believe it's a reference to Paula Cole (who sort of famously didn't shave her armpits and possibly legs) not being a lesbian, so Alyssa thinks she can get away with not doing the same.

So many of the dirty lines went over my head when I first saw this at 13. The "vertical kisser" one and "I mean all we're talking is six inches, right?"

I was like, huh? After a few viewings I thought about them and I was like, "oh, ooooh, that's what that meant!" Then I laughed.
