While the soldiers are flying into Mogadishu the movie shows Jamie Smith reading The Client. Kim Coates, who plays one of the Delta Force members in Black Hawk Down, was in the movie based on that book. Not only that but he’s in a shot just 8 seconds before they show the book:

Interesting. Maybe the producers knew that & that's why they showed the book in the film.
Another ironic thing is that they played "Voodoo Child" by Stevie Ray Vaughn (R.I.P.) when the helicopters first take off & fly. The irony being that SRV died in a helicopter crash back in 1990. Still a Great song for the movie though.
