For a long time I thought another movie was this movie

I remember seeing part of a movie about a writer who I thought was played by Nicolas Cage but now I'm not so sure, anyways after seeing Adaption today I am sure this is not it. It was much more surreal and I think the main character was going insane. Does anyone know the true title of the movie I thought for so long was Adaption?

It sounds like Vampire's Kiss because he is a literary agent who is going insane. Also, Nicolas Cage played an alcoholic in Leaving Las Vegas, he wasn't so much insane as he was suicidal.

From what I remember seeing the movie takes place entirely in the writers house and he hallucinates himself into the story or something
