2011 film?? On IMDbPro

When searching for Samurai Jack, I noticed that a Samurai Jack-titled project is apparently planned for 2011. Does anybody know more about this?

I hope it's not just a tentative listing (like the Wonder Woman film, The Brazilian Job, etc). The story deserves and end!

reply

Genndy Tartakovsky himself is currently working on a feature length direct-to-DVD film that'll hopefully conclude the series.

reply

That's good to know, but direct-to-DVD?...I would love to see it in a theater!

reply

While seeing it in theaters would be awesome. Just imagine how many direct-to-DVD movies they can make instead. Look at Futurama for example. Additionally this is awesome news.

reply

according to many sites...it is coming to theaters!!
they say that Bad Robot Studios and JJ Abrams are co producing it.
so, you can be happy again!!
they say that it is going to be 2d like the show, but will involve 3D elements too.
wow, i'm excited!

yeah screenrant.com said its gonna hit theatres

reply

that'll be so cool.

I can see the end of the movie being like the shows. It'll fade off with some calm music, then WACHAAAA!!! SAMURAI JACK! Then have the original song playing for the credits.

I can also see the film starting with Akus monolouge

reply

I can really get into the series if I know it will have a real ending!

I am Cal. Thread killer.
Playing Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

reply

Shame they're gonna have to recast Aku. Dunno how they're gonna get around that.

reply

They'll probably have Greg Baldwin play him. He took over for Iroh in Avatar after Mako died.

I hope they remember Episode XXXII: Jack and the Traveling Creatures. It's the one where Jack finds a time portal but is guarded by an unbeatable guardian. It's the only time Jack is outright beaten. Before the episode ends, though, the Guardian looks into the portal and says, "Not yet Jack, not yet." and in the portal is an image I call King Jack. He has a cape, a full beard, his hair is down, he has a shield and he looks to be quite older. I really hope they haven't forgotten about that.

reply

I'm really hoping they B-S'd on his appearance, though. I expected him to look more like a Japanese emporer. I found him looking like a Spartan King, and my brother and I were quite aghast with dropped jaws and could not believe that was supposed to be the future Jack.

Great news that's hitting theaters.

I finally got a cable package that includes Boomerang and it's great that I can see Jack at 11pm every night!

However, it reminded me about the unresolved ending....

Then, I see this great news about the film! I don't care if it's direct-to-DVD or in theaters. I just hope that we will at some point get the ending we (and Jack!) deserve!

Apparently, it's been delayed to 2014. At least it's no longer on imdbPro

Hey, thanks for that savagedamsel.

Hopefully this time it's for real and we'll get our conclusion.

As for what you said about Future Jack, well he's a character that has travelled a great deal over the years, so I think it's fine if he picks up cultural influences that have left an impact.

reply

It's been canceled 9 years ago? Damn, I can't believe how time flies. Still hoping for an ending.
