Syndication

Over my dead body will The Shield fall into obscurity.

reply

I just watched it for the first time last month so fear not it is still finding an audience. I thought it was better than Breaking Bad and The Sopranos too.

reply

I agree with you.

This show is great.
I have no idea why it's not playing on some channel regularly.

One of my favorite shows but these types of shows unfortunately just don't play well in syndication. Unlike syndication favorites like Law and Order: SVU and NCIS, too much of The Shield depends on having seen previous episodes because each episode builds on previous ones. Those other shows are procedurals that have a self contained story in each episode making it easier to catch a random episode and not feel lost. Add to that the very adult subject matter of The Shield and you'd be stuck with either a later time slot, or heavily edited episodes.

I've watched the shield so many times that I am at the point that I can spot pick episodes without being lost, but you are correct, new viewers have to watch each episode to truly understand the show.

Homicide: Life on the Street is also like that.

H & I would be a perfect fit.

I use to watch every episode when they released....I remember it was a fun watch..

Have to rewatch now 15 plus years later. Cant believe it's that old

reply

You can’t believe that
YOU’RE that old.

Stick a fork in it. Day is done. Network TV legacies are dead.

reply

Entire show is streaming now on Hulu. Of course you need cable or satellite to get it.
