This came out two years after Memento. I guess the makers of this wanted to honor that film with a suckier version in 100% color.

I was hoping for a kewl twist at the end (beginning) where it was revealed that the ex-boyfriend arranged for the brutal rape of Alex as his twisted revenge for her dumping him. But alas, all we got was a stupid, cliché pregnancy. Boooring.

No, it's not a ripoff. This was most likely being written before Memento was even released. So, if anything, it's a coincidence.

This also has a completely different meaning to Memento, so the comparison ends there.
