father's bar location

I watched this movie recently for the first time in years, and I noticed something.

I grew up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. This is where the character Monty is from. I know the neighborhood well.

The scene with Monty and his dad at the bar was filmed in a Bay Ridge bar, Kitty Kiernan's, which I have been to at least half a dozen times. They just changed the exterior shot to have the sign say "Brogan's", but that is the place with the Verrazano Bridge in the background.

But in the flashback scene of Monty with the DEA in the interrogation room, when they bring up his father, they say he lives in Bay Ridge, but his bar is on Bay Street in Staten Island (right over the bridge, 10 minutes away from Bay Ridge).

Is this some detail from the book that they included? If so, why not find a bar in Staten Island to use for an exterior shot, since the exterior shot they used is clearly from Bay Ridge? It just seems like a strange thing to be inconsistent about.

Thought the same thing, too. I guess they just figured most people wouldn't notice bc they don't know the difference between Bay Ridge and Staten Island. But, anyone from NYC clearly knows the difference!

Gotta be about money, permissions, and/or time.

In a movie with a tsunami, the traffic and sunlight had us running TOWARD the tsunami rather than away from it in a big budgeted film with very well known streets. Yet it worked.

I have to assume they couldn't get permission or film at the right time.
