If this came out today his rant would've included Hipsters and Emos

His famous mirror "F--- U" rant would have included today's hipsters and emos...something like this...

"Eff you hipsters in williamsburg with your skinny jeans, beanie hats, billy holiday glasses, your $30 scarves that you wear in the middle of july and your retro led zeppelin shirt you bought at urban outfitters even though you never even been to a led zeppelin show in your life. acting like you're so cultured because you can quote from some obscure B movie from the 70's when the truth is you are just a sheltered little b!tch from the suburbs who gets all their knowledge from wikipedia and The Colbert Report. keep drinking Obama's Kool Aid you yuppie trust fund tree hugging Starbucks drinking pr!cks!"

"and dont even get me started on those emo goths clogging up the streets with their black pants and black make up and their Twilight shirts, pumping your death metal in my ears acting like it's the end of the world because mommy and daddy divorced or the hot girl at school doesnt like you. newsflash, she doesnt like you because you dress like its halloween you freakin weirdo. go cut yourself and get the F outta my city!"

NO, it wouldn't.

He's speaking about more or less the classical "foreign" cultures.

Emos and Hipsters are just a bunch of kids, it's a modern times thing.

At leas I didn't see him getting p**sed about Glamour Rockers and Trannies.

i've just watched the movie, i'm quite touched by it, but even thought i agree with haewatein, i must say the OP made me laugh

Something that bothered me is that I felt like he pu$$ied-out during that rant by not saying "ni**ers".
I think maybe Edward didn't want people to associate him with his neo-nazi character from American History X". But man, I know that in that situation there'd be some N-bombs dropping.

Totally disagree. Hipsters and emos are high school age kids, they'd have no place in his life or rant.

NYMike I think this addition of yours is hilarious! The rest of these people who commented obviously don't live in NYC if they think the Hipster culture is exclusive to high school aged kids. Most of the Hipsters I know are adults in their 20's and 30's.

When I saw the OP begin to write out long speaches I thought "OH god this is gonna be bad" but nah, that was pretty good.

Emos have been around since before this movie was made. Hipsters have been around just as long but it only became a fad word in the last five or so years.

You had me until the part where you associated emos with death metal.

Well, Spike Lee probably wouldn't bother because for every self-acknowledged "hipster" there are ALREADY twenty people constantly bitching about hipsters and hipster this and hipster that. Such a rant would be boring and cliche.

And ironically the guys that rant the most about millenial hipster douchebags are OTHER millenial douchebags who seem to be virtually indistinguishable from hipsters except for a slightly different fashion sense.

And I guess I'm probably an "emo" since I like Coldplay better than white hip-hop and Miley Cyrus. Still, I've never seen emos "clogging up a street" anywhere and I'd probably just barrel through and knock them all on their asses if I did.
