shareNah, I think the film hits better as a one-off film.
What is there to follow up on? The movie sort of wraps it all up. Monty goes to jail, gets out in 7 years. The movie makes clear that things won’t be the same when he gets out. His relationship with Frank, Jacob, and even Naturelle will not be the same. Just as Barry Pepper said - “After tonight, it’s over.” Monty ruined everything beyond repair.
Monty probably meets new people, probably works some mundane (hard to get good jobs with a criminal conviction), and he can’t go back to dealing drugs. Nothing to make a movie on.
