I always felt that Delko's appeal to the fans had everything to do with the actor's looks and his relationship with Caine. Everything else about Delko was horrible. He was nearly always defensive and childish whenever called out for his pathetic behavior. He complained about Wolfe being competitive in the 4th season but Delko competed with everyone for the entire run. He threw childish tantrums when he didn't get his way. He was supposed to be an alpha male and yet he came across as an insecure man child. The writers did a terrible job with him. I only hope Rodriguez gets better treatment on Criminal Minds.

However, he did work his way up to CSI from the impound lot by going to the police academy upon Horatio's urging. I liked the character. Yes, he had flaws, but there wasn't any one glaring issue with him I despised.
