At Risk episode

I just watched this one this am via A&E and although the episode's
main plot was good there is just one issue I have with it. When
Calleigh filed for temporary custody of the young boy and his
sister. In my honest opinion there's just no chance that any
family court judge would award temporary custody to a single
woman who happens to be a cop and a crime scene investigator!
Talk about having to suspend disbelief! I happened to find
this scenario so unbelievable and very unrealistic! Now this
subplot continued on to the series finale and consider these
facts; Calleigh Duquesne is a single woman who is a cop who
happens to work long hours several days per week. There is
no way she would have been awarded even temporary custody of
those siblings! And when she is at work in the field and in
the crime lab then who is going to look out for the well being
of those two kids? Who would be feeding them, providing a
stable home life and taking care of their schooling and personal
needs? Now I won't go on with my rambling and anybody who has
read my post is welcome to post their two cents as I would
like to read any responses. A very poorly written and implausible
scenario!
