Miami vs. Vice City - Miami people, respond!

Good Morning, Miami folks (or anybody who visited that sunny spot).

To which extent is Vice City similar to Miami? Are the streets and all those places the same? Does the map (which goes with the official game) reflect the scheme and sights of the actual US city? Do Miami people really wear such minimum of clothes in the streets? Is the crime rate high? Are the cars and bikes similar to the ones presented in the game?

Ok, I know the game is about 1980s – well you can just answer as if I were asking about the past years.

I think that after this game many people wanted to visit Miami just to compare (or maybe to run about with a chainsaw through the streets?).

Please give me a substantial reply, because it will make my playing the game more intriguing.

Glad to know. Thanks a lot and regards

I'm bumping this thread. I just finished watching both seasons of Burn Notice on the DVR and there are recurring scenes in that show that look like they came straight out of Vice City. I've searched Google Maps and Streetview and tried to find some of the places but I can't figure it out.

There's a aerial shot of an island that looks just like Starfish Island, including the big house that looks like Diaz's Mansion.

There is a place called Star Island. It doesn't look anything like Starfish Island.

There's also a shot of a causeway that looks like the one that comes off of Prawn Island into the downtown area. I can't find that on the maps either.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

i went to miami about 9 yrs. ago and i haven't played vc in a minute but from what i remember it's a lot similar to the game. south beach/ocean drive and the hotels that light up at night are referred to as ocean beach in the game, the street behind ocean beach in the game is washington and in miami behind ocean dr. is where there are a lot of places to shop and more hotels which is washington and a block over is collins.in south beach the ocean is exactly right across the street from the hotels and there's a grassy area with palm trees and a walk way where people chill, jog, run, and walk before you hit the beach plus the way they have the walkway and sand seperated with those stacks of cement is the same as the game. in miami there is a bridge that lights up at night (don't know the name of it) and there's one in the game also. there are also 3 islands in miami where rich people live: star, palm and another one but in the game it's only one. the sunsets are amazing in miami and but i think in gta:vcs it looks better than vc. i was amazed at how many chicks walk around in bikinis in the middle of the day in south beach, same as the game. the cab driver told us little havana is dangerous, same as the game. there's a tall building in downtown miami that has like 3 layers (that's the best i can explain it) and there's a similar one in game. there's also plenty of sun and a huge cuban and haitian population. i had a friend who went there a while ago and he said his first thought was "damn this is just like vice city". if you ever get a chance to go definitely do it.
