Very confused by night route

I must say I was pretty confused by it. I mean I know it explains what the bus was but why did she keep losing her memory for instance?

I got confussed about that too - I wish somebody would answer these!
I can help you to a point - she forgot who helped her at the wedding-planning area when they couldn't find her or her fiance's name in the computer since she actually hadn't been there, wasn't engaged to him. She forgot that they met at college and was somehow under the impression that when he moved into her neighboring apartment she was lonely...because in reality they didn't meet in college. Maybe they went to the same school, but they actually didn't date and didn't know each other personally as neighbors. She never did remember working at the coffee place when a younger former co-worker greeted her, because she blocked that one, from "reality", out of her mind. In the last scene the worker remembered that as real. She forgot some details of her "life" since she hadn't lived it and it was still just a possible life, though she thought she had memories about most of it so guessed those were blackouts. And vice versa - she couldn't remember details of her "real" life since she chose not to remember and didn't want to live that one.
What bothered me was the inconsistencies - yes, she forgot some wedding details and how she "met" Adam...but on that second one she remembered reality thinking it was a mistake...And dhr couldn't remember one thing that turned out to be true. Why was it written like that and why did she remember/forget things in that order?!?

reply

Because it wasn't her life. Her memories weren't hers because she died. He told her it was the life she could have had. Thats why she couldn't remember how she met adam.

reply

Well, she wasn't dead yet since she was getting a glimpse of a possible life and if she'd boarded the bus could've woken up on the street and ended up eventually getting to live that life...
But I see what you're saying. I was just annoyed that part of the supernatural element of the show had her "forgetting" some things that never hapened, "remembering" others that did...and really forgetting one thing that did. Made it too messy for me; I would've liked to've seen all balackouts or all relapses of reality, but not both.

reply

yo 2008, technically she didn't "forget" those details because she never knew them. She was dropped into the imaginary world and drew a blank on gaps in her past.

reply

I would have liked a happier ending where she did get on the bus. Just like the other episode where those angels came down.

Maybe I am a sap.

reply

If she would have got on the bus like the dog she would have lived. Since she didn't, she died.

One aspect of this episode I didn't get was the name it was given. Why call it "night route" when the bus was seen traveling its route and pursuing Melina during the daytime on multiple occasions? The title would have made more sense if the bus was only appearing after dark.

reply

I thought it was a pretty good episode but it didn't really make any sense. I doubt anyone would have gotten on the creepy bus.

reply

Why didn't the driver just tell her what was going on?
