The Ending
was so so depressing. Such despair and hopelessness. I love the anime so much but it's so heart wrenching. Poor Guts.
shareThe ending just left me going "What the f*^%?" So he somehow got away from all that mess (so did Griffith let him go?) and is just going around a doomed world slaying monsters now?
shareWatch Berserk: The Golden Age Arc trilogy to find that out. The trilogy pretty much condenses the original anime into three movies but is truer to the manga from what I've read and adds key elements that weren't in the anime.
Or I'll tell you now: Skull Knight breaks through the realm and saves Guts and Casca. He meets Rickert who is somehow the only one from the Hawks to survive outside of the sacrifice feast and we can only assume they eventually arrive at Godo's place where Guts finally wakes up but to his dismay finds out that Casca has amnesia.
And then the Black Swordsman arc begins which was the start of the original anime where we see an older, even more battle worn and experienced Guts with his new sword and extra weapons hunting down demons and trying to find and kill Griffith/Femto. I should also say that the brand on his neck attracts evil spirits so he's also hunted by demons.
