Awesome, awesome, awesome. One of my favorite series ever, and loved the manga. Owned the Dreamcast game too! From what I heard so far, sounds like it's going to be closer to the manga this time. Making sure not to exclude characters like Puck and the Skull Knight.

Watch these movies!!:
American History X, Zombieland, Kick Ass, anything Hayao Miyazaki

No, actually, that was a great idea to exclude "Puck the Elf." That character was a blight on manga, and it was such an excellent, and wholesome decision to not have such a terrible character present for an anime adaption. This news pains me.

the character is needed. to lighten the mood in a pitch dark story, and to develop the plot.

Let's just hope the new anime doesn't feature such a repellent and wholly inappropriate opening song this time.

now i know you're just trolling.

Yay! :D Finally, the Berserk series done right.

Seems to the thing in anime at the moment - going back to anime adaptions and re-doing them. First the Helsing OVAs and then Full Metal Alchemist and now this - hmmm, I wonder what's next?

I've seen the trailer and read what chapters is going to get into a movie (cuz it is a MOVIE, right? Not a new series?) but I'm too lazy to check xD can someone enlighten me?

I've always wanted to see the later half of the first arc made into anime, the one with only puck and Gatsu against the count, who while still demon cares for his daughter theresa and sacrifices his demonship for her life, but it wasn't it sadly :/ it was dark as hell, and Caska wasn't probably invented yet (or atleast planned to still be alive) so Gatsu was extremely indifferent.

I assumed it's going to be a series, not a movie. Unless I'm wrong. Blast, hope I'm not. Don't think so, as that would make everyone else I heard it from wrong. Plus, the Berserk series is just too big for one movie. Even OVAs, Helsing-style, could only cover a fraction unless they really go to town with it.

Little_Korean, you are right that it isnt a movie. This is the latest news that I found about it when googling:

It seems I thought it was a OVA or movie from the ditched project, made some year ago, but this is apparently new stuff.

Would love a new series, aswell! The manga itself and kentaru sooo deserve that.

I wonder just how it is to be done though.. As the original anime series skipped some vital things. Puck/skull knight and made griffith some kind of king of midland. In another thread they suggested a redoing of the series, ala FMA:B - which is a good idea, but I doubt the makers waste time and resources when the demand is other arcs and continue of the manga.

reply

Phew, it's going to be a series after all, that's good news! :)

I'm guessing it'll be the same as FMA:B, as in, a straight adaption of the manga, no frills, no fuss. Which will be just right in my book. The manga looks like it's leading to some sort of climax, so I guess the anime makers decided now was the time to start anew, so they wouldn't risk going past the pace set by Kentarou Miura, a la Naruto and the original FMA series.

Honestly, while this is great news to all Berserk fans, I'm weary of where this will lead. Since the manga is still ongoing with no end in sight, most likely this new anime will end on a cliffhanger again and we'll have to wait another decade to see the end, if there is one.

reply

If the intention of this new anime is to follow the story of the manga more closely, I don't see that happening. Why make a new series that follows the manga more just to throw all that away at the end? There's the possibility that the end may be delayed, depending on Miura's work on the manga, but I don't think the anime's story will go off-track if it catches up to the manga. But who knows?

It looks like the manga is building up to an ending at last (due to certain plot developents occuring) so I wouldn't worry about the series overextending past the manga.

Hells yeah....

"Lisa, your killing me!" The Room..a cinematic masterpiece.

Only thing we need now is for them to redo gantz.

I remember hearing something a ways back that Kentaro didn't want to begin another anime version until he knew where the manga was going to end.

If I'm remembering that correctly, you may very well be onto something there.

i'm sorry but i really don't see an end in sight yet. don't want to go into details cause i don't want to spoil the ones who aren't completely up to date.

imho it will still take a decade at least before we even start to see the end in sight.

something completely else found a website of a guy who is translating the twitters of the berserk project
