How were they going to distract him to do the switch?

Why would he bring her in minutes before a huge job without telling Frank?

Thoroughly bad move with no payoff whatsoever. Complete predictable. Is the novel better? Why the title Matchstick men?

You seem to not realize that Frank, the girl and the mark were all in on it. Before the girl was used, the bum was going to be used. Frank switched it up so Cage would bring the girl and set everything in motion.

Matchstick Men is another name for con men.
