However it would probably get a PG-13 rating because of how dark the story is, hell if the atmosphere is creepy like in this movie it might even get a R rating.

The movie is literally about an arachnoid demonic being disguising herself as her victim's mother in order to sew buttons over their eyes. Its a mixture of Saw and Silent Hill if you think about it. I want a live action adaption of this that is aimed at mature audiences but I don't think they'll ever make one.

If I recall correctly this film was originally slated to be a live-action adaption, but Henry Selick felt it would be too scary for children...button eyes in animation seems less horrifying then seeing it in live-action would be, think horror movie.
