Salmon why cant they talk?

I thought it was quite odd that all the animals that you are introduced to can talk and have feelings and what not, but when it came to the bears eating the salmon they are just swimming up stream and dont really care that they are getting demolished by the bears.

Anyone else feel sympathy for those poor little fish that have no control on whats happening to them. I mean i get that animals have to eat, but i feel like that was the only scene and they made it out to seem like the salmon were not important at all.
I though to myself "this is exactly how life is" you have the top dogs in whatever youre doing in life and they control and diminish anyone under them. yes there are the few who make it up stream, but its extremely tough.. no kid will really try and make that connection but i got that feel as i was watching that scene.

Just curious any thoughts?

There's a post credits scene where Koda is saying no animals where harmed and shows Kenai running after the Salmon. The salmon is screaming

At the end of the movie a salmon is screaming "He's going to eat me!" well trying to get away from the big giant Russian bear.
