Knowing what I know about Scientology and Scientologists I was in complete and utter shock when I saw Anne Archer have a recurring guest role in a show about homosexuals. I say that because while it may not be inherently known, but Scientology is quite homophobic.

due to the secrecy of the church and (I think) before it was revealed that the church was supporting anti-gay organisations, very few where aware within the church of scientology's oppinions on Homosexuality, it is not entirely impossible that the actress was unaware of the organisations stance.
Paul Haggis for instance had his "last straw" with the organisation after finding out about their opinions on prop 8 so he left because he has gay children and did not want to be a part of scientology anymore,and this was after he had been a member for many years.

I would be surprised if she didn't know about their stance. Her son, Tommy Davis started working at the Celebrity Centre in the 90's and later became the chief spokesperson.
