No More Shows About Lesbians?

Very few shows seemed to have been made about lesbian women before and after The L Word. I can only think of "The Real L Word" reality show and "Lip Service". Why do you think that is?

and if you have examples of shows that focus on lesbian women beside the examples above please let me know.

In terms of show about gay males in focus it seems to be more frequent with stuff like "Looking" "The New Normal" and the programs on the Logo network. QAF was even adapted into a US version.

Edit: I just remembered OITNB might be a mnore recent example. any more?
Peace!

One that may apply is the Canadian Showcase series, Lost Girl. It's not the same genre as reality, on the fantastic side and it does not focus on just lesbians; you may have to watch a few more episodes beyond the beginning episodes to get into it, but it's worth it. Also what is likeable about this series is the GalPal platonic friendship.

I am not aware of anything new, but on YouTube, you can always watch the Pepa and Silvia storyline from Paco's Men. It's very interesting.

There is a show called Wentworth or Wentworth Prison that may be about lesbians. It's Australian, and the only way I know of watching it in America is to buy the DVDs. Supposedly this is a good show.

and of course Orange is the New Black.

If you get HBO, there was a series called Capadocia that I watched earlier this year, but I haven't found anything like The L Word. So far, it's one of a kind.

And hey, I was just looking on Amazon, and they have a new show called Transparent. I'm going to watch the first episode now.

Wentworth is streaming on Netflix actually.

But compared to OITNB, the lez factor is lacking on the Australian version :/

There was a show here in the UK called Sugar Rush which was about a lesbian and her relationships. Also check out the newest ones on Channel 4 called Banana, Cucumber, and Tofu. It's not lesbian specific but they cover all kinds of sexuality and relationships with good humour. It's from the same guy who wrote the UK Queer as Folk.

Would you highly recommend bananna cucumber and tofu?

Faking It is a cute show with lots of gay action (guy and girl). Orphan Black has lesbian characters.
