The L Word Streaming on Netflix... Should I Bother??

Hey! I didn't get to watch this when it originally ran 10 years ago. I was married back then and I didn't want to explain to my husband why the dykes were more for my enjoyment than his.

Anyway, I have it on my Netflix list to watch but I have a question... is the original music going to play when I stream the series? Or have they dubbed new music due to licensing contracts like they have recently with QAF?

I've caught wind here and there that the show itself is somewhat censored. That they cut some of the sex scenes to bit to make it softer than the original. But then TLW was removed from streaming for a while before being added back to the Netflix streaming videos.

I guess I just want to know, as a new viewer, is it worth it to watch on Netflix or should I take the risk and purchase the DVDs?

Thanks!

It's been a while since I watched the original DVDs (I began watching the series circa 2008 when I was in college), but I don't recall anything too different in the Netflix version. The music is fantastic in this series and the sex is all there. I think I would remember it more if they'd cut something huge, but I've rewatched the Netflix streaming version three times and it's a full show, IMO.

You should watch it, but there are instances of music being replaced. I noticed this when someone wanted the name of a song from one of the episodes and I thought "I'll check on Netflix" and the song was different.

ps, I wouldn't mind if they replaced some of the Betty songs on Netflix :)

peace!

I was disappointed when they changed the opening credits after season 1.
Season 2's opening credits - OMG that song and all the cuts/editing of the women is so atrocious! Oh the perks of streaming on Netflix's - Fast forward

LMAO f--king Betty and that horrendous song...PUKE!

I know this is old but hell no it isn't worth it. Watch the DVDs. All of the music, even the score is changed to generic elevator music. Sooo disappointing :(

I thought I was the only one who hated that music...who decided that was a good idea? Completely ruins the vibe of the show when that crap comes on. Does it go away in other seasons?

reply

No it doesn't go away... Just fast forward ...

Amazon Unbox had the uncut series..now you mostly have to have a device to watch it instead of using your computer. You pay a small fee, it was $9.99, and keep the episodes to watch again as long as you want to. Try the DVDs for all the episodes because might cost less. I recommend Long Way Home episode. Barnes and Noble Nook is a good place to watch the series on your PC.
