shareThe only meaning per se that I can determine is that it was purposely meant to be an erotic enticement by Louis-Arnaud to see to see how far Paul might go in the moment.
"Thank you, thank you--you're most kind. In fact you're every kind."
Assuming this might clear it up, the actual Chateaubriand qoute is that he felt the leg of the dutchman rubbing up agaisnt his, a much more explicitly mentioned action then the "dutchman's leg" and certainly does imply that sense of an erotic challenge posed by Louis-Arnault as to how far Paul would act
