Is Paz really Paz?

you know what i'm talking about; is Paz really Paz? or a better question would be: does it matter, and if you were in section 9 would you kinda shrug that off or would it be always in the back of your mind? can you still still trust this person knowing his identity may not be the same person he was before?

reply

Yes. Eventually, his coworkers would have noticed if he wasn't. Probably sooner rather than later. His chick only looked like him. She didn't know EVERYTHING he knew.

If the Paz imposter was the one that walked away from the fight, I'd imagine he/she would get greased pretty quick the first time out on a field mission.

If it was the woman who survived, she might as well connect to Paz'z memories before he died and get the whole savoir-faire and his memories. All in all, since she was so obsessed with him and wanted to become him, as Major said, it didnt really make a difference who was who.

reply

sorry for the necro-bump, but did Paz have a prosthetic body? unless he's full-cyborg, seems like it would be pretty easy to determine if the one that walked away was the real one.

reply

I dont think he had! That's a very good point. The onyl fully cybernetic body belonged to Motoko, and even Batou had a fair number of human parts in his body.

I'm not sure where you're getting this assumption that Kusanagi is the only full cyborg. Batou is full cyborg: it was part of his military service prior to joining Section 9. It's also stated in the first season that only Togusa and Aramaki are the only non-cyborgs in Section 9, and in an episode in the second season that the rest of the team has a high degree of cyberization.

Honestly the only one I think may not be a full cyborg is Ishikawa.

reply

Not exactly so from what I can remember.

It is said that Togusa and Aramaki are the least cybernized (which Togusa was thinking of changing after his accident), followed by Ishikawa, but in the team only Motoko had a fully cybernetic body, which is why they made such a big deal out of her and Kuse struggling so much in order to control their bodies.

Batou's body is largely cybernetic, but not fully. His body still consists of some human parts. The other section 9 members had various parts of their body replaced, but none to the extent Motoko and Kuse had. And certainly, Paz was not a full cyborg, so the DNA argument is still valid.

Seeing that "Faux Paz" (See what I did there?) drew first blood with that slash to the chest, which was present on the corpse of the loser, it would be easy to think that the real one lost.
But then you see the same wound on the victor (though not as deep), so it's anybody's guess.

I also recall the ep where the Major decides to scrap the Tachikomas, they were talking about Saito having the least amount of cyberization, next to Togusa. So not everyone is super amped:P

I love children! But I could never eat a whole one...

What I've always wondered is, if his name is listed as Paz in the credits, why do the English dub actors always call him "Pazu"?
