3 most interesting characters

Who do you think are the three most interesting characters in this show (either season)...and why?

The Tachikomas (I'm counting them as a single character)
Gohda
The Laughing Man

With Motoko and Kuze as runners-ups.

When darkness overcomes the heart, Lil' Slugger appears...

Gohda
Motoko
Batou

The Laughing Man was too cryptic for me to really be enamored with. I admit he was fascinating, be he loses out to other less mysterious characters.

The Tachikomas sort of irritated me so I marked them off by default.

Interesting responses. For me, I'm going with Kuze, Gohda, and the Major.

I would definitely have to go with templeofthebull,

Motoko, Kuze and Gouda.

1. Motoko Kusanagi because she is the main staple of both the first and second gig. She's a woman whom can be rational and out of control. She has the sense to both lead and to step into the background. Aside from his political connections I feel like she really could run Section 9. All in all the best character in the franchise.

2. Kuze. This character went from being a somewhat different one-dimensional character in the "Individual Eleven", to be coming a multi-layered character whom even though he was somewhat forced into it by an "invisible hand" became the champion of the refugee movement in the 2ND Gig. He was very charmastic.

3. Gouda, the "invisible hand" I mentioned. He was an odd ball whom really masterminded the incidents concering the refugees wanting their independence. He was the brilliant puppeteer, secretly pulling the strings. Sometimes leaving little clues as to being involved, other times denying he knows anything. Great character.

This was a hard question considering that both the first SAC as well as the 2ND Gig is full of great characters. Everyone in Section 9 is a great character, but these are my top three.

i dunno, maybe im over analyzing it, but the tachikomas are clearly different and should be considered individual characters...i think that's the whole point.

Well since I seen the first movie it would have to be Batou. Then I was introduced to Kuze one of the characters I wished replace the major. On and the pretty boy with the Kabar, I love his "one liner", I use it all the time.

If a man can sell garbage for money, ANYTHING is possible.

Togusa
Aramaki
Laughing Man

I'd say Saito, but he so rarely gets to do his thing.

One interesting character is "Nurse Maruta" (Episode 11, first season). Bears striking resemblance to the beloved "Nurse Mildred Ratched" from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", don't you agree?

reply

1. Kusanagi
2. Tachikomas
3. Batou

runners up: Ishikawa, Pazu, Saito

reply

These are my three (with reasons why)

1. The Chief (Because in a few episodes he goes into the crime room in shirt sleeves and ine one 2nd GiG episode actually has them rolled up)

2. Batou's Tachikoma (Simply because it is the best of them, and it has some of the betterlines compared to the rest of the other tachi's)

3. The robots used by Section 9 (because they are sooooooooo hot! In the episode where the chief and the major go to london, Batou is left in charge and one of the robots knocks on the door to the office Batou is in and she actually blushes and giggles - of course the moment when the tachi's cause one to blow its circuts is classic)

Thank you! Thought I was the only one who'd noticed that.

Batou: He's the antithesis of the anime pretty boy, Akio Otsuka does his voice, and despite the fact that he can crush damn near anybody's skull he wants, he's by far the most emotionally vulnerable of the group.

Togusa: Still carries a torch for the mullet, voiced by Koichi Yamadera, and his personal background (no cyborg biceps, detective, family man) make for good storytelling and plot points. I really dug the episodes where he's out stumping, trying to put the case together. He's a good undercover man, too.

Kusanagi: She just is.

Togusa - His moral ethics are just in the right place even though it does lead him to make some brash decisions from time to time. Thats what I love about him though, his humanity, compassion for his job and kindness/respect towards his peers in Section 9.

Also he likes the old stuff (which ironically is new in our time) carrying a revolver, watching classic movies etc and although it makes him highly vunerable to danger whilst on duty he has no prostetics whatsoever which is something what I admire about him most. Hes prepared to take risks and put his life on the line if worst comes to worst even knowing he has a wife and two kids to look after.

Isihikawa - To many thinks to mention, his kick ass accent, his suprising level of intellect. I think he is great at doing the whole 'behind the scenes' sorta thing and helping out the Major in pretty tight spots (no not like that!).

Batou - Not particularly the most interesting as his voice can often grate slightly but his oneliners more than make you overlook any of his bad traits. Just to refresh the fan's memories some memorable ones:

''If you don't like it, throw it out, SHUT UP and move on''

''AHH MAN THAT CRAP IS GUMMY!''

''This bastrds a real comedian!''

''Didn't you hear the lady? DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID!''

''Yeah...the SOAB is smiling''

''Damn Straight''

''You DUMBASS!!''

As he says to Togusa a million times :)
