Anyone else notice this?


In the final episode of 1st Gig, as Motoko is descending down the steps into the library, "*beep* You" was engraved into the railing.

What the hell was that about?

It's a reference to the novel 'Catcher in the Rye,' by the same author, J.D. Salinger, who the Laughing Man is a fan of. In CitR, the narrator enters a school and finds "F___ you" grafetti on the walls.

When darkness overcomes the heart, Lil' Slugger appears...

If you type "Laughing Man" in Wikipedia there is a lot of info but as Little korean says:

In The Catcher in the Rye, Holden says "You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write *beep* you' right under your nose."
