Best episode of the Major.

What is your favourite episode where the Major is in? I don't talk about a whole episode, any scene or moments you think that episode is the best beacuse of her. Mine is Mother and Child - RED DATA, when the kid starts to examine her cyborg body and makes a comment about it, her expression is just great. Also were she picks up the kokain in the same episode how she enters there is just hilarious. Also her clothes are my favourite along with the ones she wears in the second season, which barely covers her.

hard to pick but i would say it is the scene near the end of sac where she is in batou's arms. in that moment she really felt like a woman and batou really felt like a man. the next best was when she makes batou punch himself.

In the episode "Re-Embody," when the terrorist is surrounded by the cops, giving a speech about how the collective will of the group won't die even if the individuals do.

She's hanging by a cable outside the window and says, "If that's the case, then go ahead and die," before she fires on him and obliterates his head.

Then she deactivates her optical camo just long enough for the cops to see her smile at them as she falls from her previous position and engages the camo again.

the music for that bit is well cheesy, it's something like "I can't be coooooooooooool". Hilarious. Haven't seen all of 2nd gig yet so can't comment.

reply

"Cheesy?"

That song is awesome, I don't have any clue what you're talking about.

reply

Yes, cheesy. As in embarassing. Sh*t? Get it?

Not knocking the show though I love it.

reply

In defense of the song (and because the show itself needs no defending) the only words in English in that entire song are those four words you find so cheesy.

Unless you speak fluent Russian, you don't know the context of that particular line of the the chorus. For all you know, it could be something that when taken with the rest of the song is extremely profound and fits with the theme of the rest of the series as a whole (much like "Lithium Flower").

I'll admit that I don't speak Russian, and that my opinion of the song is solely based on the composition and performance, but at least I'm basing it on the whole of the song and not a sound byte.

I'm not saying that my opinion of the song based on the musicality of it is any more valid than your opinion of the entire song based on the lyrics, but what I AM saying is that you shouldn't base an opinion of a song on four words that weren't in the native language of vocalist performing it (or the songwriter), without hearing all of it.

reply

Alright Sir! Personally I found that those words and the imagery of the major disappearing was terrifically cheesy! And no, I don't speak fluent Russian. I haven't heard the entire song, so I don't know if I like it, but thanks for being a picky snob and pointlessly rectifying my inaccurate wording. Ta x

reply

I'm not really sure where that hostility is coming from. I certainly didn't intend to elicit that sort of response when I said you should reserve judgment on the song until you've heard the whole thing. I even gave you a concession by admitting that my opinion wasn't based on the full context of the song, either.

I'm also not sure where this "inaccurate wording" that I supposedly harped on you about might be.

Maybe the bit where, in the course of a body-swap operation, she's rendered helpess by the phony doctor/asassin but saved by the Laughing Man. The two conversations she had, first with the 'doctor' and then with the LM were great. Even when helpless and facing death she keeps her cool and a hard edge!

When darkness overcomes the heart, Lil' Slugger appears...

reply

I loved that scene too. Especially Kurutan's reaction when the "doctor" comes flying through the window after Kusanagi kicked her.

reply

My favourite Major bit is when she has the showdown with the narc dude in the battle suit, when he steps on her head and then she overheats and shoots the crap out of him. One of the best anime fight scenes I've seen.

Out here in the perimeter there are no stars
Out here we are stone, immaculate.

I cant be cool is a beautiful song WTF r u talkin about...

Yeah, that was an intense bit. I cringed when the mecha stomped down on the Major's head.

Its so hard to pick a favorite scene so I'll just pick my favorite one from the other day. It was where she was about to rapple down from the helicopter, but due to an attack chopper, she ends up falling down onto the top of a building. The whole series of events where she distracts the helicopter from Batou and the rest is a nice taste of the action throughout the series. I especially liked where she jumped off the building and proceded to do some Neo style moves and bounce off the side of the opposite building. Man its so hard to pick a favorite, especially when you suspect that she may be a lesbian due to a scene that you saw where she gets out of bed that two other half naked women are sleeping in. I really hope I didn't get drunk and see that in my mind, boy I'd feel like an ass :P

dats exactly wat i was thinkin bout as her best episode. u see when she gets flung into the air, god i luv this show

Yeah man she gets royally pissed against that armor guy who steps on her head, and shoots the guy 10 times with a f'n anti-tank rifle at close range. Oh yeah. AND SHE DOES IT WITH ONE HAND.

'HEY SAIITOOOO!! FORK OVER THAT WEAPON NOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!'

reply

I really liked the episode in the first GiG where she dives into the box the runaway tachikoma brings back. The one with the movie theatre.

I can't pick a best episode, but the Major's best moment has to be when she blasted Gohda's sorry ass. She f/ucked him up.

It's a toss up. I like a lot of the Major centered episodes. Red Data is one of them. She's in all her ass kicking glory. According to what I've read, it was inspired by the movie "Gloria", which had the same plot. The other is "Affection" where you find out why the Major went full cyborg at age 6. She's my favorite character (I've dated a few women who've had a similar personality: totally feminine but could kick your ass) with Batou a close second. He's the one I'd want watching my back if the Major was busy.

reply

Definitely "Cash Eye". The opening sequence where she leaps over buildings and through hallways, finally destroying that security camera with a high-speed coin.
