Will they release the Eng Dub in NA?

Any guesses? Confirmations??

I have the original... but I must say its really hard to understand admidst the gorgeous visuals taking your attention from some of the complex dialogue.

Madman are releasing the Australian version in march WITH englsih Dubs. They payed for it. I havent seen it yet - but from what I understand the english dub uses the same VA's as the rest of Gits

Yeah I'm sure you can buy it off amazon.co.uk but you more than likely wont be able to play it on most DVD players sold in the USA.

I personally felt the english dub of the major in GITS fitted the way her character was being portrayed. Very minimalistic, monotonous.

The English dub of GITS 2 is fairly well the same as stand alone complex, the major played by Mary McGlynn, and Togusa by Crispin Freeman.

just watched the english dub.

there is one or two sync issues thatcould be fixed - but otherwise it's pretty damn good!

yeah except her character is neither minimalistic and monotonous if you ever bothered to watch it in it's original language, the first one atleast, or bothered to do a lil research and read the manga for GITS and GITS2:MMI(Man-Machine Interface).

I wanted an English dub as well and found it inspired me to buy a region free DVD player so I wouldn't be stuck with domestic releases forever. I got one through Amazon for $125 including shipping and it wasn't the cheapest player either. The version of GITS-Innocence that I ordered from Amazon.co.uk was $20 new including shipping. It's a really nice version in a clear case with two sided graphics on the insert. It has a regular Dolby Digital 5.1 Japanese/English and a DTS 5.1 Japanese/English disc with some interviews in the extras. I'm really happy with the purchase and now I'm not stuck with poor domestic versions when they come out in the future.

As far as the dub goes, It's the same crew that was on the first movie and the TV show and I think they're great. I prefer listining in dub with anime (not live action film though) because it free's you to focus on the art instead of the reading. (I can hear the hard core anime freaks screaming right now through my computer)

When watching a live actor the emotions of facial expressions mean more to a performance than in animation, where it's only an approximation of an artists rendering. If you don't speak Japanese the word order is jumbled from what it is in english and you're only guessing what the emphasis is on in the dialoge that you're hearing.

Added note;
For a really interesting interpretation try listining to the dub with the translated subtitles and getting the meaning from a mix of those. You can also see how different the two experiences really are.

But isn't the UK version in PAL? Regardless of having a region-free player don't you need one that handles PAL as well as the display device handling a PAL signal? Just curious.

What about a Japanese (region 2 version) ... that should be NTSC, but I don't know if those would have the English Dub.
