Grocery store scene (spoiler)

I don't follow what's supposed to be happening here.

Ishikawa says that Batou was hacked and shot himself in the arm at the store. No matter how many times I watch that scene, I can't reconcile that claim with the action on the screen. His right arm is being hit by bullets as he's drawing his gun with that same arm. He's also drawing a gun with his left hand, and it's conceivable (though unlikely) that the last shot to his right (that knocked the gun out of his hand) could have been fired by the gun in his left hand, the first shots to hit him impact the outside of his right shoulder. There's no way he could have done that himself.

The first wounds you see are actually exit wounds, not entrance wounds - watch how the blood spray explodes from Batou's arm, and watch the shell casings hit the floor alongside the boxes of dropped dog Food.

He's pulling a pistol with each hand.

The fact that the scene is presented in slow motion does mess with the timing some - some argue that he couldn't have drawn the pistol whilst holding the dog food - but the pistol is drawn and fired a split second after the food is dropped, hence the shell casings hitting the floor at roughly the same time as the food.

Cheers,
Steve

There is no angle that could have made the last shot to the right arm an exit wound. The shot was high on his arm, just short of the shoulder. He would have had to shoot through more than just his arm to do that.

I just took it that what we saw was what Batou thought was happening. He thought he was shooting himself, just as in a later scene we see what Tosuga thinks is happening when he is being hacked.

Batou is hacked, and he PERCEIVES that he is being shot by someone else, when he is in fact shooting himself in the right arm with a gun he is (Probably) holding in his left hand but perceives he is holding in his right hand...

is this the scene where a cyborg walks in slow motion in the grocery store, looks around, turns around pointing his gun the gets shoot?

the the glass behind him breaks in slow motion?

if this is the scene, i saw this at future shop, but i didint know what was the movie title.

reply

yes it is sir. yeah he obviously had 2 guns, and those were exit wounds because of the angle his elbow was in while his hand was in his jacket.

You don't understand the whole concept of ghost-hacking. What he sees does not necessarily have ANY connection with what is really happening. Maybe he had the gun in his other hand. The timing and direction of shots, and when he drops the gun can not be known for sure. It's totally ambiguous - a simulated experience. You can't be sure what happened, except from what he is told after the fact.
