I know, i wasn't feeling her Elektra.. it was way off..
Elektra can't be Asian or Latin, she has to be Greek, because y'know, she is...

And i don't like Garner as an actress, personally, especially in bad girl roles because she doesn't, to me, have a bad girl quality (i don't care about alias!).

She is a good actress, although she does quite often same to be a harmless little girl, no matter who shes playing...

But overall, she played it quite well!

She wasn't all that crappy, but she wasn't physically right I have to agree. I sort of liked the film, and I thought it at least looked better than Daredevil. It didn't really try to be more than it was in my mind which I felt DD did. You knew that Elektra was gonna be disjointed and silly, frankly my biggest complaint was the they put her in a slightly more authentic costume, but then added high heels, what the hell. I thankfully do not remember enough of DD to remember if she had flats on but I think she did, and at least this time her belly (as nice to look at as it is) was covered more.

Garner was badly miscast as Elektra. Besides looking nothing like the Elektra character, she came across as very empty and wooden, no passion or intensity, and certainly not much of a dark side. She's also wrong from an ethnic standpoint; Elektra is Greek, Garner is clearly Caucasian and this is very pronounced in just about every role she does: she always comes across as this all-American girlscout next door type, despite her Victoria Secret style runway physique.

In short: Garner as Elektra was one of the worst casting choices in the long, sad history of bad superhero casting (right up there alongside the miscasting of Jessica Alba as the Invisible Woman/Sue Storm and Brandon Routh as Superman).

Um, so? lol It doesn't really matter if the actress is actually Greek, all that matters is that she looks it. Although I do agree that Garner looked nothing like the character Elektra, and the hair color change to red is beyond me.

Lucy Lawless played Xena, an ancient Greek, and she's from freaking New Zealand! lol But she pulled it off tremendously when she dyed her hair jet black. which brought out her blue eyes, making her look more 'exotic'. Lawless didn't want Xena to have light hair; her natural hair color is actually more of a light blondish brown.

I hate to say it since I have a particular distaste for her but Giselle Bundchen w/ a dark dye job would have a better face for it, but I am sure that she would make Garner look like Katherine Hepburn in terms of dramatic ability. I couldn't swear to it as I avoided Taxi like I would a one titted whore with ringworm.

I don't think the person before was talking about being Greek (I could be completely off) but I think they were meaning the look Greek. Different ethnicities have different characteristics, and she didn't have those.

Interesting. I mean, I knew there were different...genres...categories...types, for lack of a better word, of Greek, I just didn't know there was a vast variety. Of course, I could've been completely off on what the initial person was talking about. For all we know they could've been talking about how she "looks Greek in the comic books."

Jen was ok, I thought they would make her a bad girl though. theyre probably afraid that if she acts badass ppl will think shes a villain. but i think that call was the writer's to make

- You do know that Greek is someones nationality, right? Not ethnicity. Because surprise, Greeks are caucasian aswell.

- Witht reference to what I said above, you might want to brush up on the "wisdom" part.

Now, moving on... I can say with all honesty that I´m probably one of the people who dislikes this movie most. I really looked forward to it, but in the end, it totally blew. However, I don´t think it has much to do with Garner. Her character, and the movie itself, was very poorly written. I believe she did the best she could with the material given to her.

If she comes across as the "American girl next door", it is the directors task to actually direct her into acting as a convincing Elektra. I blame the producers and the writers much more than Garner in this case. I doubt any other actress would have made much difference to the movie quality.

Another actress i think it should have played Elektra is Roselyn Sanchez...she's realy hot...and yes, it look a lot like Elektra.

Garner was amazing. She was cold and intelligent, but also was able to show that there were feelings buried deep down and had a fierce-motherly protectice quality about her. Who cares that she wasn't "exotic looking". It's like those people who whine because Kirsten Dunst was not a natural redhead in Spiderman. Give me a break.

agreed her performance is the best thing about the movie i liked the film because of her i do hope they make another film daredevil 2 and she is cast i wont even see it if elektra is played by another actress she is also excellent in daredevil and 13 going on 30

I can only assume that all the compliments are A) from people who know nothing about the comic book Elektra, B) people who worked on the film, or C) both.

Garner's performance was flat as a window.

While her look is obviously not Greek enough for Elektra, I only saw the movie because Garner starred in it. Had it been someone else, I wouldn't have bothered. I'm not familiar with the comics which is probably why Garner's look didn't bother me.

Yeah, I agree. Garner is a lovable and sweet all American girl, but she was wrong in this role. They should have had someone with a strong presence, natural sex-appeal (like Angelina Jolie) and who's good at kicking a**! Someone you could believe wasn't really "pure hearted".
Jennifer Garner has a nice physique and handles her weapons pretty good, but she moves like a tree; not very smooth.

Check out Chik yeung tin si (2002, aka So Close) and the ladies kicking serious butt and you'll know what I mean...
