Who else could have played Elektra?
Was Elektra raised in the US or Greece? I know she's of Greek heritage.
Anyway, I would have been inclined to cast someone with a more Southern European look about them, like the gorgeous Monica Bellucci (I know she's Italian rather than Greek but I think she could pass as Greek). Jennifer Garner is pretty but perhaps a little too 'girl-next-door' and certainly not very Mediterranean looking.
