Rips of The Simpsons

From where I sit, not even in the slightest... in fact, the 2 are hardly even comparable in that they weren't the same stories, at all.


Handy is absolutely LOVED by the town whereas the people of Springfield would lynch Homer the first chance they got.

Oh ya, one other little minor detail - Homer and Pres Bush DON'T fight over the same woman who happens to be the town vet and they DON'T run for mayor of Springfield... actually, Pres Bush doesn't get even get the slightest degree of pomp and circumstance from Springfield as Hackman's character gets from Mooseport. (besides, Hackman's character didn't retire to Mooseport so he could write his memoires, did he...)

Another thing that vastly differs the movie from that particular Simpsons episode is that I don't remember camera crews from all the major TV networks camped out on Bush's lawn, following his every move, forcing him to travel in convoys with armed guards...

If anything, that particular Simpson's episode is ripping from Dennis The Menace with Pres Bush being "Mr. Wilson" instead of this movie in any way ripping the Simpsons... nice try.
