One word: Layers

I really enjoyed the movie and it's effects, but if you're gonna deck out a couple of vans with all that armor, and plan to head to an island near Michigan, why the heck do you not get on many layers of clothing? Like some thick clothes with double pants, and shirts/jackets, boots, etc? They just wanted to show the boobs and biceps, and that took me out of it big time. Many died from surface bites that could have easily been mitigated by a few layers of clothes. It was gonna get cold on that island too. For me, this was the biggest blunder of the movie. You're in a mall for christ sake. Writers, get your head outta your ass next time, and stop worrying about showing so much skin to sell me sex. I'm not interested in that. I'm interested in watching them use survival tactics like anyone with an IQ over 80 would do. If I wanted boobs, there's plenty of porn out there. Don't sell me skin, sell me survivors i can relate to. Still a good movie other than that. End of rant.

Fair point and yet real people do stupid things every day. I sometimes wonder how some people make it through civilized life alive, can't imagine them surviving in zpocalypse. A recurring theme of zombie movies is that we are as dangerous to each other as the dead.

true, which is a pity because when the apocalypse does happen there wont be any zombies (spolier: zombies = made up)
but it will be just as bloodthirsty as these films due to lotta people fighting for little food.

SILLY RANT...FIRST IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AND FIGHT IN MULTIPLE LAYERS.SECOND,MULTIPLE LAYERS WOULD ONLY HELP FOR BABY BITES.THE ZOMBIES SWARM AND TACKLE,IF YOU THINK WEARING 3 SHIRTS IS GOING TO HELP CJ IN THE BACK OF THE VAN BEING ENGULFED..WELL,UGH.AND THIRD....THEY DIDNT FOLLOW THEIR PLAN TO EXIT
THE MALL ANYWAY.STEVE JACKED UP HIS DOOR ASSIGNMENT AND THEY HAD TO LEAVE ON THE RUN,LITERALLY.

You're wrong. The main character Micheal couldn't go to the island because he had to wear his muscle shirt instead of a simple leather jacket that could have stopped this weak ass bite: https://ibb.co/94xPgNK

That could apply to almost all zombie movies. 75% of characters die from bites to the ankles, wrists and neck.

Frank (Brendan Gleeson) in 28 Days Later wore a make shift riot gear when he was introduced, which made a lot of sense.
