Missed the season opener. Did they explain Quinn's departure or was she just not there? I felt from the start that the writers did not know what to do with the character.

Torres said she was on leave to take care of her mother. They revealed last season that she had dementia or Alzheimer's.

I think they brought in a character and actress that simply didn't work. To me she was by far the worst regular cast member the series had.
