Banana stand = continual cash flow

Any of you fans out there want to start a banana stand with me? I hear there's always money involved.

reply

Don't be fooled. I tried the same thing. What actually happened was George Sr made a few hundred grand in real estate and then lined the walls of the banana stand. Hence, there's always money in the banana stand. An actual banana stand is a money pit. What with bananas costing so much ($10 a piece!) and then the chocolate, and ten cents gets you nuts.

It's crazy. You'd have to fund it with a series of clever cartoons about a talking/whistling banana that rides some kind of scooter and grabs things. I don't know, bananas or something.

I tried it and went bankrupt, too. I suspect my naive son and shifty niece were doing come creative accounting with the banana inventory.

And dirty hippies always singing something about a big yellow joint......

Same here! Who would've thought that the only honest employee I'd have was a former inmate I met while doing time? He had a steak name. Rib-eye or Porter House. Something along those lines.

I tried this myself, but could never figure out the recipe.

STICK IT IN THE WHAT?!?

Wait a minute... who am I here?

reply

I was able to make the business work at first. However, my manager son freaked out and burned the damn thing down. To top it off, my idiot brother failed to mail the insurance check.

So in all seriousness, why does a real estate development company have a small random banana stand? Was it just for the money laundering? A way to give the kids employment to prove their worth? Seems pretty random.

reply

It was their first business and they wanted to keep it. It's also a staple of the OC, where Mitch Hurwitz is from, and he wanted to include it.

Mitch also suffers from, The OC disorder.

Don't call it "the OC."

Why would a banana grab another banana? No, never mind.
