why????

Why did they kill off half the cast and ruin this show? I refuse to even watch the last season. This show was great. If you watched cops you would probably love it. It was such a funny show. Of course they ruined it.

I don't think they would seriously kill those people off unless the actors playing the characters didn't want to cotinue with the show.

reply

They killed off Garcia and Clemmie, and its speculated that Tom Lennon, Ben Garant and Kerri Kenny were tired of working with the actors who played them. The actress who played Kimball left voluntarily to work of Broadway, or something. And yes, season 6 sucked.

There have been different stories. I've heard cast arguments, someone wanted out for personal reasons/different job/tired of role, among other things.

Carlos and Wendi have nothing but nice things to say about their time on show and with cast, so maybe it was a mutual thing?

but Mary was definitely for "bigger gig" reason. She's done a lot of appearances here and there, but the only thing I've seen her in was as Zach's wife in "It's Kind of a Funny Story", and that was barely a cameo. (you hear her more than see her.)

Mary Birdsong told Ryan Meehan in 2011: "I wish I could say the departure was one that I chose, but that’s not the case." Garant has said he thought Comedy Central were idiots. And IIRC contracts ran out at the end of Season Five. So perhaps letting some of the actors go was a cost-saving deal that was come up with between Lennon, Garant, and Kenney (the three creators/executive producers of the show) and Comedy Central.

Wendy was fired by e-mail, which she considered "not very nice." I think Carlos wasn't happy about being bumped, either.

Huge mistake. The new actors were awful and season 6 sucked.

I miss Clemmie. She was unique.I stopped watching the show when she left.

"Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?"

I notice that they bring in a ton of very serious topics like serial killers and try to base comedy on them. I haven't gotten to Season 6 yet but I can certainly see them thinking, "let's kill some people that will somehow be funny" as a brain fart.
