X-Men: The Last Stand Screenwriter Denies Writing the Film's Most Infamous Line

X-Men: The Last Stand co-screenwriter Simon Kinberg recently insisted he's not responsible for the 2006 blockbuster's notorious "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch" line.

In an interview with Polygon, Kinberg confirmed that the infamous line was not part of the original shooting script he and co-writer Zak Penn submitted. Instead, it was apparently added as part of new material filmed by director Brett Ratner after principal photography wrapped. "The real [story] on that is that was a reshoot Ratner line," Kinberg said. Juggernaut (Vinnie Jones) spouting the meme-inspired line at Kitty Pryde (Elliot Page) proved controversial at the time, as many fans argued it was inconsistent with the X-Men franchise's tone. As such, it's unsurprising that Kinberg is keen to distance himself from this creative choice.

Kinberg's comments suggest he wasn't fully on board with Ratner's vision for X-Men: The Last Stand and he wasn't alone in this regard. Star Rebecca Romijn didn't have many positive things to say about her time working on the third X-Men installment in a recent interview, slamming Ratner for his on-set behavior. "I was not happy working with [Brett Ratner]," she said. "But he's been canceled. I haven't spoken up about anything with regard to #MeToo, because I had two major issues with two directors I've worked with -- and both of them already got theirs, one of them being Brett Ratner." By contrast, Romijn was full of praise for Ratner's predecessor, Bryan Singer, whom she described as "a fantastic filmmaker."

‘X-Men’ Actor Vinnie Jones Turned Down ‘Deadpool 3’ Due to ‘Mental Toll’ of Juggernaut Suit, Says Making ‘The Last Stand’ Was ‘Shambles’ and ‘I Was Very Upset’

Jones’ Juggernaut faced off against Jackman’s Wolverine in “X-Men: The Last Stand,” which opened theatrically in 2006. He told Yahoo Movies UK that he agreed to play the comic book character under filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, and then he became upset when a director shuffle to Brett Ratner drastically altered the role.

“The new director came on and it was not the same role as I had signed on to do,” Jones said. “They diluted the dialogue … The director brought in so many moving parts and so many other actors that mine got diluted. I lost all interest quite early because I knew they were just taking me along … I was very upset really. It was such a big stage and I became an extra, that’s what happened.”

“I was going in and going, ‘Where is all my dialogue? Where is the storyline?,'” Jones remembered. “For me it was shambles and it was a shame.”

Sounds like everyone is going out of their way to throw Ratner under the bus, even though not a one of them had anything but glowing praise for him prior

X-Men 3's Cringiest Moment Is Way Less Funny 18 Years Later

X-Men: The Last Stand is among the least favorably remembered of Fox's mutant movies, but one particularly maligned moment is less funny in hindsight.

I liked the delivery of that line.
