why does Aiden call his mom Rachael ?

I hate to say this, however in my opinion, the child actor playing the role of Aiden, the heroine protagonists son, does a TERRIBLE job in his portrayal. His acting is stiff, seems forced and the fact that his character calls his mother by her first name, Rachael, sounds completely artificial and out of place.

I don't think Rachel is actually Aiden's Mom

I think the character is autistic

For me it's more because he's a very mature kid, sometimes much more responsable than Rachel (in some scene from the first movie he was dressed up and Rachel was struggling to find her own dress). Maybe Rachel gave birth when she was very young and very irresponsable so Aiden do not see her as his mom... more like some lady that live with him

I called my mom and dad by their names a lot when I was young. It's just how I felt. I know some people who do too. I don't think it's that uncommon. It just depends on your personality.

I'm a dad and would think it impersonal and disrespectful to be called by my first name. I would talk to them about it, and tell them it's not custom and how I felt. If there was a pet name or nick name that a relative calls them and it caught on, but they didn't like it then I wouldn't use it and try to talk with the relative about not using it. It would not be something to punish them for, but would think it's them trying to be your equal. I think it hints something different about Aidan and sure enough some strange things happen to him.
