You think Boll is bad? Try this guy!

Boll sucks, but at least there's some known actors and decent production values. But anyone who says Boll is the worst director ever has never seen an Ulli Lommel film. To say that his films look like student films is an understatement. If you don't know who he is, give his version of Black Dahlia a go (not the Josh Hartnett one) and then tell me about godawful directors...

"Innocent? Is that supposed to be funny?"

Or better yet, Aaron Seltzer/Jason Friedberg.

Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans and Disaster Movie were all worse than anything Boll has made, even the former, which many people say was actually watchable compared to all of it's followers, and of all the POS "movies" that they've made, I can't believe Disaster Movie was the only one that made it into the Bottom 100, they ALL deserve to be there (though ironically enough, Disaster Movie, their ONLY Bottom 100 movie, currently sits at the #1 spot on the Bottom 100 at a 1.3).

xXxTheManxXx, Epic Movie is also in the Bottom 100, although Date Movie and Meet the Spartans used to be there.

Alright, I stand corrected. Still, they all deserve to be in the Bottom 100, although Disaster Movie has the rightful #1 spot in the Bottom 100, which is good enough I guess.

Don't forget Ed Wood and "Plan 9 from Outer Space".
(I'm just thankful I've forgotten who did "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes".)

reply

Based on what I've seen of Boll (granted, it's not much), Ed Wood far from being worse; as you already stated above, he made 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' which is one of the best "so bad it's good" movies ever to grace the screen whereas, Boll has more of a reputation for just being bad (again, I've seen very little Boll, so I'll keep personal opinion out of it for now). Plus, Wood made 'Glen Or Glenda' which despite it's budget-limitations, is actually quite an important and daring movie

And what the hell are you talking about with 'Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes'? It's one of the best spoofs of all time.

reply

I agree re: Ed Wood. The Medveds and their shameful Golden Turkey Awards brought the perception of Ed Wood as Worst Director to a slew of people who actually did not know of Wood and just mouth the sentiment.

Wood is a favorite writer/director of mine. His films are engagingly energetic and quite charming.

I believe so too. Hell, there are directors bringing far worse to mainstream audiences all the time, but because most of them have never seen an Ed Wood movie, they always assume that no matter how bad it is, a EW movie must be worst.

reply

If you ask me, I could never decide who is worse:
Uwe Boll or Stephen Norrington... DeathMachine, Blade and LXG are a lot worse than Bolls "movies"...

P.S. Rob Cohen is on an extremely close 3rd place...

reply

if you cant decide which film is better between blade and bloodrayne then you are either registerd blind or... i dont even want to think about it.

reply

"DeathMachine, Blade and LXG are a lot worse than Bolls "movies".."
Its not that he can't decide whats the better film, he's saying ANY Boll movie is better than Blade. Clearly that makes him a chump.

reply

ulli lommel really is the worst director of all time

reply

Well, Lommel made a correct movie, "The tenderness of the wolves". You know, I'm afraid that these directors can realize they're doing bad movies, but it's a way to make a living. Like lots of architects making unhabitable buildings, or bad cops or doctors, etc. Bad professionals are everywhere, but somehow they get away with it. Why then are we treating so badly these people, whose jobs are really not relevant for the society, and therefore can't cause much harm?

Eventually, we all know we love to trash-talk about these directors!

reply

i agree with you
i dont really hate any directors.
i just avoid the ones who makes unwatchable movies,
but uwe bolls movies are allmost allways entertaining, one way or the other

reply

Oh no you didn't.

reply

Ulli lommel seems like he can mange one or two good scenes to go along with his mostly bad movies. i actually liked D.C. Sniper and Curse Of The Zodiac, due to the crazy rants and voice overs

Rob Zombie is one of the greatest directors today

reply

or try Tommy Wisseau's The Room. Very excellent contender for worst movie ever.

While its definitely true that Boll is one of the worst directors working right now there are actually and truthfully worse directors out there that make even his worst films look somehow good. And that in and of itself is pretty scary to think about.
