how did the old guy, Henry, know his dog was going to die?

he poisoned the dog.

He knew he would die because he could feel himself dying. He was holding on because he wanted to see Turner,his son, again. He died because he felt it was his time to go.

There is no way he could have known the dog would die in that same way.

Because its a movie and people can do anything they want in movies.

The reason henry knew the dog would die is bc they couldnt live without each other.The tremendous bond is inferred.

I agree with that. Besides, Henry was obsessed with death by that time. I thought that was no surprise at all!
