Split personality thing didn't work

I actually generally enjoyed this (unlike most people on this forum apparently. But the split personality thing didn't worrk at all. It was a major flaw which hampered the whole film. A shame.

How didn't it work? I thought Cera did great with both personalities.

Let Me In - 9/10
The Social Network - 8/10

I actually agree that Cera did a great job in both roles. He was surprisingly good as the villainous character actually and should perhaps experiment with more roles like this in the future.
In my view, however (and obviously you don't have to agree), the device of the split perosnality didn't work very well. It just seemed stupid that the main character was no longer responsible for his actions when clearly he was ultimatelyd oing everything really. It weakened the whole film.

reply

I agree that it seemed stupid and I would agree that it didnt work.

Not saying Cera cant play that role, just didnt fit that well in this film.

reply

Aww. You forgot to close your brackets.

reply

I liked the idea, but I thought that Cera just didn't have the chops to pull it off.

reply

Some heavy sampling here from Woody Allen's Play it Again Sam where Bogart was the alter ego.

reply

I agree with the OP.

This is where the magic happens... and by "magic", I mean nothing.

reply

Really? I thought it was one of the best parts of an otherwise average film.

reply

Agreed. It added a dark psychological thriller edge to what would otherwise be a more-generic rom-com.
