did anyone else think Trent was an imaginary boyfriend

I can definitely see why a viewer might come to that conclusion considering the way Trent's character and other secondary (but really important to the book) characters were just sort of crammed in midway through the end of the movie. But in the book Trent's character is much more developed and doesn't come across that way.

I think the OP is asking whether we thought Trent was imaginary until he actually showed up. -And yeah, I thought he was too.

Here's a question: How come she never asked him about the gf he made up? I'm talking about the model

She actually does call him out on it. In her letter to him after their first kiss she mentions his thoughts about suicide and his production of an imaginary girlfriend.

i thought he was fake until he finally showed up on screen. i thought that was the joke, at first. she had a ridiculously impossible boyfriend, so nick made up a ridiculously impossible girlfriend.
