U think the Stasi was bad?

Wake up to the bloodthirsty western media nosing around Your private life and you get a different idea. And on a larger scale they got excited when sniffing a possible war in Iraq, lusting for blood and conflict again.

No media, western or otherwise has been nosing around my private life.

In a total nutshell - People couldn't be sure whether or not family members were spying on them, and not because they wanted to, but the Stasi forced them, by threats that were even worse than in fact spying on your family members. Hard to beat that, I'd say.

There was an event where I live where the TV media used spy drones to catch people out golfing during the Governor’s COVID lockdown. The use of technology and the secret surveillance at altitude where the drone couldn’t be heard was pretty creepy and definitely reminded me of Stasi tactics. At the end, they showed the TV station’s phone number and solicited “tips” from viewers for similar transgressions against the stay-at-home order by other people. It was very analogous to the Stasi tactic of trying to use one citizen against another to find violations of orders from the state. It was pretty ironic that this TV station used its freedom of press right in this way. I have seen other examples of the media - now a very political organization - using this power to hurt or “cancel” private citizens whose views are disdained by the similar politically-minded audience the media is trying to hold
