The only redeeming factor...

Ok, there really isn't one, so I'll just list who I think were the hottest women in the movie (outside of the cameos) in order IMO.

1.) Paula Garces
2.) Alexis Thrope
3.) Paris Hilton
4.) Sarah Carter
5.) Angela Dodson
6.) Holly Valance
7.) Amanda Rowan

Feel free to counter with your own list if you want. Other than that, I'm a movie buff and can actually sit through just about any movie. I've seen bad movies and some I enjoyed. This one was bad and I didn't enjoy it. Just saw the hot sexy girls and asked myself, "What was this all about because I could care less about the story. And the acting wasn't good either. Was this supposed to be a comedy, documentary, or a poorly made school video project that somehow got leeked into the public?"

reply

I agree 100% about Paula Garces, but seriously? Paris on third?????? She's NOT pretty in the least. Almost ALL the other girls in this were sexier and prettier than her. Didn't note any names, so don't know the others apart from Holly Valance, who's also too high on this list I think. That's my opinion anyway...

Being a film buff like yourself, I hardly ever turn off a movie no matter how bad it is, but I was really tempted with this one.

Keep watching, Nightstar :)

reply

First off, thanks for the response astream99.

Secondly, looks like we differ. I gave Paris a higher rating than she should, but I feel she's up no higher than that and that she is number 3 in my book for this movie.

Third, yes I felt the same way. I almost shut the movie off. I had to watch the rest of this.

I mean I enjoyed movies like Return of the Killer Tomatos, D.E.B.S., Harold and Kumar escape from Guantanamo bay (which isn't really bad but I'm throwing it in here), and even The Happening and still enjoyed them even though they were far from being good movies. But Pledge This! made me want to Pledge to burn every copy of this movie ever made. This was bad.

reply

No, no, thank YOU Nightstar :)

I've always wanted to see the Killer Tomato films, but haven't seen a copy of them anywhere, ever, so I might have to search online for them. I actually haven't seen any of the films you mention here :( I've seen the first H & K, and thought it was an ok way to waste time. I've had The Happening on dvd for ages, but just haven't bothered seeing it yet as I'm pretty sure I'll hate it like I've hated every Shyamalan film since Signs. To be truthful, the only film of his I really liked was The 6th Sense.

reply

I love Shyamalan movies. Their different, and their unique in their own way. He's a director that likes to dabble in everything. I loved 6th Sense, and I thought Signs was also pretty good. Unbreakable was great as well, but then came The Village with too much hype and not enough to back it up by any means. Lady in the Water was a nice surprising fairy tale story but when you find out the writers were actually his kids (or at least the ideas) then I'm like, at least your being a good dad and involving your kids in your passion. The Happening was like, I enjoyed it, but Mark Walberg was gay, the gore wasn't as bad as they made it out to be although there is one scary part of actually seeing a kid die. And the idea of what's Happening is pretty cool until you find out what's really going on and then you're like "WTF!?!?!?!". I mean the cause of everything is unique and different, but it's like wow, that didn't come out of left field. That came out of nowhere literally. But you didn't need to tell me that twist so damn early in the movie. *facepalm

Paris getting her beautiful feet kissed.

totally agree. I would watch Paula Garces bake bread, she is so damn hot. Hilton is, in her own vernacular, not hot. she is not ugly or anything but her looks? average. take away the giant inheritance, designer clothes, million dollar make-up artists, scandalous behavior, sex tapes, and run-ins with the law and you have an average looking, lanky blond who uses money and fame to break into the entertainment industry instead of actual talent. After seeing her in this movie, her sex tape is still her best performance.

"If you hate it when people post signatures they are 100% proud of and try to get others to join them, and are 100% proud of it, copy this and make it your signature"

Angela Dodson is at the top of my list. Also Julia Lehman, who has an even smaller role. Both these ladies are in Pretty Cool Too, a FUN straight-to-DVD title from a year after this. They were the reason I first heard about this movie, but despite the fact that neither of them have done much else (sadly), I held off watching Pledge This purely because of Paris Hilton. She is trash and needs to be stopped. End of story.

I finally gave in and watched Pledge This after seeing Holly Valance in DOA: Dead or Alive and looked up her filmography. I know, Sarah Carter is in that movie, too, but she was actually just about the last reason I enjoyed DOA as much as I did. Still, the question becomes - why do promising young actresses have to start out in crap like Pledge This?

This question specifically relates to:
1. Paula Garces
3. Noureen DeWulf (who I now need to start looking out for after watching this - WOW)
3. Angela Dodson (now 'retired' from acting)
4. Holly Valance
5. Julia Lehman
6/7. Diva Zappa & Amanda Aday (notice I only said 'promising' actresses; and hey, they're both daughters of two of my favorite singers)

If I ever go down, I hope I don't get the Potato Judge.

reply

Paul Garces didn't start out with Pledge This.

She's been on Guiding Light soap opera as the daughter of a spanish mob family.
She's been a detective on and off on Law and Order SVU.
She's been in both Harold and Kumar movies.
This is one of her latest movies, but she seems more into directing and producing.

Angela's biggest break was actually the Joe Shmoe Show where she played a good Christian girl and had to help keep a secret from a guy who who thinks the game show they're on is real.

reply

Yes, I am aware that neither of these actresses are brand-new to being in front of a movie camera. Hell, I remember Paula Garces from Clockstoppers back in 2002 - a movie which I'm surprised you didn't include in your detailed synopsis of her career thus far. The point is they are still far from being 'known' names aside from perhaps the slacker crowd that enjoy stuff like the "Harold & Kumar" movies. As far as the general public goes, these actresses are not too recognizable.

And I can only shake my head at you trying to discredit me by refering to the Joe Schmo Show. Really? How many people actually remember the Joe Schmo Show?

reply

And I find it disappointing that you think I'm trying to discredit you. My point was that these are actresses aren't new to acting to a national audience whether it be Broadway, TV, or movies. And yes people who've watch Joe Schmo Show still remember it and there are people still waiting for the 2nd Season to come out on DVD (after waiting a couple years I gave up and said they won't come out with it. The 2nd season didn't have the sparkle of the 1st season).

And you can't really say general public now since I've noticed that unless you're an A-List actor/actress who's in the media a lot as well, you can pick any random day and there's always a 50/50 chance that you'll have most people say they've never heard of an actor. And yes I've tried that experiment in my home town of Chicago (not a suburb of Chicago, but the city in downtown) and I've had people say they've never heard of people like Morgan Freeman or even Rachel McAdams (someone had the audacity to say, unless an actor/actress has had a big role in an academy nominated movie, they're not even being worth being thought of as a big actor or actress in a movie setting - *facepalm).

reply

For me it was Kerri Kenney (the Blonde mom with the boobjob that wanted to bang every guy in sight)

She wasn't hot, per se but she was really funny. I mean she plays Trudy on Reno 911 so I guess you need some comedic timing for that.
