What exactly is the moral to this story?

Just because you are brothers doesn't mean you should stand by and let them rape and murder people?

My best guess would be that it would be that we all are A holes, it just a matter of perspective. Like I said "my best guess" maybe the meaning is clearer if your from Australia or one of the former "Empire" countries because it had an impressive cast.

Another thing, why did they have the disclaimer about this being offensive to Aborigines? I have never seen that in a movie about slavery or the Holocaust...

reply

If I remember correctly it was to worn people of that culture that their were pictures of people who were now dead. I did some quick research and evidently is bad form to use a person picture or refer to them by name after their death.

the moral is chaos. the television series the wire is much the same, nothing is certain and sometimes the good guys lose. At this time in history where could be more chaotic than outback australia. also most movies/ shows that feature old footage of indigenous people include this warning at the beginning

"In the quiet words of the Virgin Mary...come again".

Does it have to have a moral?

Grade school huh? I graduated from grade school over 20 years ago. Would you like to compare academic achievements?

Well yes I do, if there is no moral or meaning to a story what is the point? Even slapstick comedies have some sort of message they are trying to convey to the audience. I have no idea what this movie was trying to say about anything.

I say the moral of the film is, that the journey you must take may not be in your favour, but the revelations it brings can make you a better man.

Very well said nikewhisky.

I think it's that the "civilized" aren't entirely so, nor are the "uncivilized." Also, there are no purely "good guys" or "bad guys" - there are elements of both good and evil in everyone.

Possibly, you reap what you sow (to paraphrase Galatians 6).

Or, what comes around goes around.

Why would there have to be a moral to the story? Are you some kind of religious nut? American?

Hidyho!
