The Soundtrack!
This is the only film score I still listen to as a stand-alone album. There is something so damn evocative about this music. Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are two of my favorite musicians - I'm a huge fan of both The Bad Seeds and Dirty Three - and this is some of the best music either of them have ever made.
The forlorn and ragged sound of Ellis' violin, the grumbling and distorted bass, the flourishes of piano, and of course Nick Cave's shamanic voice. Even if I had never seen this film (which I love), this would still be one of my favorite albums.
