TPB's Concept Would Never Work as a US Based Series - Why?

It's simple. They're not that far from many "normal" US citizens.

The main point of hilarity of TPB is that these are rough and stupid lowlife characters interacting with what appears to be a fairly traditional, polite, orderly, decently educated, fairly civilized society (Canada.)

That description of the society apparently includes Canadian law enforcement, the court system, jails, as well as the overall Canadian society. Things just seem much gentler and more middle class overall in Canada than the US.

Basically they're white trash morons and nobody around them is prepared for them. That's where much of the humor derives from.

The US, on the other hand, has a prevalence of TPB-style citizens. They're called "The People of Wal-Mart" or more generally, "most of our public from lower to middle class areas and from flyover states."

Blatantly trashy people in the US would not be fish out of water. They are mainstream here.

Also, the reaction of law enforcement to ANY of their hijinks from the show would be to go all Homeland Security on their asses. US law enforcement even in backwaters is pretty well militarized. Ricky, Bubbles and Julian would be lifers here. Or, more likely, dead.

So, you really can't have TPB-US.
