Will Non-Maritimers Really Get the Humour?

There are, of course, the obvious things that anyone can laugh at, but I wonder if non-Maritimers would really get a lot of the very subtly localized humour. You really need to either be a Maritimer (like me) or have a thorough understanding of Maritime culture to fully appreciate the TPB, I think. Thoughts?

What the hell is a maritimer? Is that a nautical term?

Please tell me what is soooo specifically Maritime except for the subtle accent? Zellers and Tim Horton's are not Maritime, and I get every joke in the series. So give us an example please cuz I'm not getting it.

I'm not a Maritimer (is that where Aqua Man is from?) and I have no troubles with the "subtle" humor. So what are you goin on about, eh?

I'm from BC, never been further east than Manitoba and I totally get the humor. Like when Ray asked Bubbles if he wanted to come over for some "Newfoundland steak" I knew he meant baloney.

Cameron: I call 9 mm.

Nope, I'm American and I have no trouble with the humor. But I do watch more Canadian TV than most Americans, and I grew up pretty close to the border.

I live in Ontario and the only other province I've been to is Quebec and I get the humour. Though I'll be honest I caught onto the show late after my friends like it and didn't really 'get' it at first.
