difference in cameras
this is more of a question about film in general than about the movie, what do they do to make the picture in the movie look "different" than the TV show? I know there is a difference, but I can't describe it.

the quality does improve as in the later years of the show.
The first few seasons are true to the show being shot as a documentary (you see the sound crew, occasionally the camera man and crew become part of the show). Starting season 5 (keep in mind the first movie happens between seasons 5 and 6) it becomes more of a fake-reality show; the characters still talk to the camera on the side but dont seem to address the camera man or key grip themselves. The footage improves once it's no longer shot as a documentary.
